Scott Taylor Miller, 51, passed away on Sunday, June 24th, 2018 in Durham, North Carolina. Scott was born on January 8th, 1967 in Norfolk, Virginia; he was the son of Steve and Diana Miller of Virginia Beach. Scott is survived by his son Chase and fiancé Suzanne, his brother Mark and his sister Dana. He is also survived by countless family and friends that will forever miss his thoughtfulness, compassion, fun-loving nature and his big laugh and presence.
Scott followed in his father’s footsteps and “dug ditches” for living, working for his dad for most of his career. As with anything else Scott decided to do, he became incredibly successful at underground construction and joined Team Fishel two years ago where he was a top performer as a Project Manager.
All of his career accomplishments served as a distraction from his true passion, fishing. Scott was a master outdoorsman. He hunted when he couldn’t fish and he fished every chance he could. If winning fishing tournaments wasn’t enough, Scott spent much of his time sharing his knowledge, teaching techniques and encouraging others to find the joy in catching and releasing fish. Whether a stranger that was struggling next to him on Jennette’s Pier or someone he met serving as a race official at the Virginia Motor Speedway, Scott always took the time to quietly help those that needed it. People he helped would often offer to do something for him and he would always say, “Nah, don’t worry about that.” He will be missed.
A Celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Sunday July 8th at 10:00 am at Jennette’s Pier
