Obituary

Robert Edward Mikeska, pro chili connoisseur, University of Texas Couch Coach, and accomplished traveler and farmer, passed Thursday March 21, 2019 in Chesapeake, VA. After battling Alzheimer’s Disease.

The women in his life were numerous. He particularly fancied smart women. He loved his mom Proxey Nowak Mikeska (deceased). Robert and his mother took care of his father – Joe G. Mikeska for many years at home due to a lengthy illness prior to his death. Robert took over the family farm with the help of his brother Joe James Mikeska and wife Josephine and two nephews David and Darrell (Janice).

He married his main squeeze Terry Shumaker Mikeska, a Registered Nurse, almost 43 years ago, with whom he had two children – Robert Michael Mikeska (Sara) and Courtney Ann Mikeska Johnson (James).

Never dreaming he would leave the Orchard / Wallis area – Robert ended up traveling coast to coast following his children across the nation and was able to watch his grandchildren be born and grow. His first born grandchild and only granddaughter is Georgia Caitlinn Johnson, and three grandsons – Noah Robert Johnson, Abel James Johnson and Silas Christian Johnson.

He had a life-long love affair with deviled eggs, kolaches, boiled peanuts, polish sausage and beer. He loved attending University of Texas football games for 17 years. When he stopped attending you would find him on the 50 yard line couch seat cheering his team to a win or cursing the tv out (depending on the season). He also loved sitting around the campfire at the deer lease listening to the guys tell jokes and lies. He was known to his friends as “Brown”, “Buster” and “Moose”. He didn’t care what he was called as long as he wasn’t called late for the meal.

Robert was the most caring man a person will ever meet. He will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to The American Alzheimer’s Association.
Finally, the family ask that you honor Robert’s wish and that you write your Congressman and ask for the repeal of Day Light Savings Time.
