Dean Richard Bell, age 69, of Norfolk passed June 15, 2019. Dean was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to Robert Bell I and Mary Curtin Bell on March 15, 1950. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Linda (Norfolk, VA), daughter Kimberly Kliemann and husband Hal (Fort Worth, TX), son Robert Bell and wife Belinda (New Orleans, LA), daughter Martha Lukacs (Richland Hills, TX), his grandchildren Michael, Regina, Brandon, Bailey, Tyler and Sean, his great-grandson Phoenix, sisters Mrs. Kathy Caverly, Joanne Haislip (Richard), Sandy Charest, and Jane Baker (Bobbie), brothers John (Lynn), Thomas (Diane), and Brad (Kathy), sister - in - law Phyllis Grande (Nashua, New Hampshire).

He was predeceased by his father Robert, mother Mary, brother Robert Henry Bell, and his sisters Judy Daunce, Caroline Bell, and Susan Wood.

Dean retired from the US Navy as a SCPO after 28 years of proud and dedicated service. He was an inspiration to many who knew him.

Dean will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was a greatly loved and respected head of his family. He was quick to help those in need, to offer a compassionate ear and a strong shoulder to lean on. Dean had a mischievous sense of humor, as anyone who ever took his picture can attest to. He was an extraordinary man who lived a wonderfully ordinary life filled with love and laughter.

I served with Dean in VP94. He was as dedicated a sailor as I have met. His counsel and example were an inspiration to many younger members of our squadron. Rest In Peace Shipmate. Prayers for your family.

I was stationed with Dean at both VP94 and CNAFR when it was in NOLA. He was a man of few words as he was always focused on the task at hand and meeting the mission. Fair winds and following seas condolences to the family on their loss. Sending prayers your way...

Dean was one of a kind, I learned a lot from him and cherish the memories of our time together in the grove. RIP old friend, thank you for all of the life lessons, both personal and professional. I will keep a dollar in each pocket from now on in your honor!
