Karen received her bachelor’s degree in social work from University of Pittsburgh in 1991 and received her graduate degree in social work from Norfolk State University in 2000. She got her license in social work and began her career in 1996 with Fleet and Family Support Center where she eventually became a supervisor, until 2016 when she began a private practice.
Karen was a devoted wife and loving mother who raised two wonderful children while her husband was serving his country. She loved music and reading and was an avid Steelers fan. She loved family gatherings and spending time in their pool with her grandchildren. Karen was spontaneous and enjoyed hanging out with friends and family. She was a great friend who was beloved by everyone who knew her, which could mean she just met you in an elevator. She was like sunshine and radiated positivity to all around her.
Just know that she would want everyone to cherish each day and moment. To live in the present. To not “borrow trouble”. To spread love wherever you go. Don’t live with regrets and mostly forgive others. Her grace was abundant. She has brought us all joy as a wife, mother and grandmother “GG”. Her kindness was beyond measure. Her beauty radiated inside and out everywhere she went. She would want everyone to be kind to others because you may not know what they are dealing with, physically or mentally. So please spread positivity and love in her name. The world needs more of it. And more people like her.
