Rita Ophelia McCormack, born December 2, 1934 on the Canal Zone Panama City, Republic of Panama, was the daughter of the late Jeanna Williams and Byron Eastman. Rita departed this life on June 13, 2020 after a long battle with illness.

Rita received her early education in Panama and graduated from La Boca Occupational High School. She later attended college and graduated with a Business Administration Degree at age 19. Soon after graduation she met Alphonso Malcom McCormack Sr. and was married in 1956 at Wesleyan Methodist Church. They had 5 children to whom she dedicated her life to raising and teaching them the art of giving and loving. In 1982 at age 47 she migrated to the United States and began working for Stoffer’s where she subsequently returned to school and received her culinary arts diploma in New York City. She took pride in cooking and it was her passion. Rita retired as a skilled chef from Marriot hotels and self-employed as a caterer and wedding planner.
Ms.Rita, as she was lovingly known, had a special bond with many people she came into contact with. Rita was a compassionate woman who was fond of and influential in the lives of all of her family and friends. As big as her heart was so was her home and her doors. She was the hostess of the mostest and her sense of humor brought joy to many. She was a mother and grandmother to everyone and the coolest mother any child could ever have. Ms. Rita was always full of life, feisty, fun and most importantly had an eternal love for her family.
Rita leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her children Angela, Renee, Alphonso “Butch”, Carlos and Vilma; stepdaughter; Silvia, grandchildren Eloria, Antoine, Alberto, Gisvel, Erika, Rita, Alphosno III Carla, Carlos, Genori, Mary, Malika, Angelo and Antonio, great grandchildren; Iyata, Dontray Jr. Adonis, Ijahman, Saloman, Israel, Maleek, son in laws; Harry; daughter in law Melissa and Sandra and a host of other relatives, family and friends.
