Stephanie Paige Massenburg, age 45, of Hampton, Virginia passed away at her home on Sunday, May 3, 2020 surrounded by friends and family. Paige was born and raised in Virginia by her mother, Cindy, who was later joined by Lee Affholter, who became her loving “Daddy”.

Paige worked as a surgical assistant for an oral surgeon as well as in orthodontics for many years. She lived briefly in North Carolina with her husband, Andre Massenburg, who passed away in 1994.

She is survived by her daughter, Sierra Massenburg; son, Nelson Spikes and his father, Brian; parents, Lee and Cindy Affholter; brother, Jeff Carroll; sister, Pam Smith; also left behind to cherish memories are her nieces and nephew, uncle, cousins, and numerous friends.

Paige will always be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, and friend. She had the gift of enjoying life’s good moments with a big smile and sparkling eyes. Paige was described as a free spirit by her friends and loved spending time at the Outer Banks.

The family sends thanks to the many friends who lifted her spirits throughout her illness and supported her family through the battle with her cancer, especially Leanne Spicer, who Paige lovingly referred to as “boo”.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Network.

Paige and I were friends in Smithfield and attended elementary and part of high school together. We rode bus #7 together for years. I never had contact with her again after our sophomore years in high school. I later learned that she married Andre Massenburg and never saw her again until 2015 on FB which is when I unfortunately moved back to Smithfield. I wanted to meet up with her but it never happened. Paige was one of the funniest people I have ever known. I'm glad she was working as a surgical assistant which means she was also really smart. I knew something was wrong with Paige when I saw her FB pictures, and I'm sorry that it was pancreatic cancer. I'm sure she fought it to the end. I'm going to remember Paige for her humor and send my sincere condolences to her family.
