Aune Ruth Kirk, 69, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 17, 2021, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 5, 1951, in Butte Montana, to Elma and Felix Bustle. Growing up on a ranch, she developed a strong bond with nature and animals. She loved the outdoors and spent much of her childhood exploring, having tea parties with her animals, and going on adventures. Aune had an intense passion for people and went on to get her LPN license working with mentally ill patients for several years before having her children. In 1987 Aune went back to school to pursue her passion for journalism at the University of Montana. After graduating, she and her family moved to Chesapeake, Virginia, to attend graduate school at Regent University. After obtaining her master's degree, Aune combined her love of journalism with her passion for people and became a writer for local weekly newspaper publications. She traveled all over the Hampton Roads area connecting with people and telling stories. When her grandchildren were born, she devoted her time and attention to creating a fun and safe place for them to play and learn about the Lord.
Aune was an adventurous free spirit who loved to play and laugh. She volunteered with several outreach programs in the community that would bring the love of Jesus into their lives. With every connection she made, she was sure to offer a prayer for them. She prayed for deliverance, healing, salvation and won numerous people to the Lord. Aune is survived by her husband Tom, brother David, daughter and son-in-law Tana and Michael, son Jeremy, her niece Deborah, and grandchildren Damon, Alana, and Vicente. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Benjamin. Aune will always be remembered for her great loving heart, giving spirit, unwavering faith in the Lord, devotion to her family, and spreading the love of Jesus. She will continue to live on in our memories and hearts forever. This is not a goodbye, but a see you later.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24 at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations from 6pm - 8pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 25 at Kingdom Life in Chesapeake starting at 11am.
