Ellen worked as a registered nurse at Virginia Beach General Hospital and retired from there in 1998. She then worked part time at Chesapeake Regional Hospital where she retired completely at age 72.
Ellen was an adventurous woman with a strong will. She would do anything she could for her kids. Becoming a homeowner was a great accomplishment. Ellen was able to travel many parts of the world including Fiji, Australia, Alaska, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon, New Zealand, Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel. She was very adventurous; she did hang gliding, flew in a two seater plane and went whale watching. She loved history, the mountains and fall foliage.
She loved her family. One of her greatest accomplishments was being a great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed going thrift shopping and volunteering her time to help her community in many ways. She volunteered at two local elementary schools and tutored children in reading. She volunteered weekly at the local SPCA in Virginia Beach. Ellen loved reading a good book and loved the Philadelphia Eagles.
