“Grumpy” as he was affectionately known by to his grandchildren and friends was born September 1, 1961 in Nassawadox, Virginia to Robert and Shirley Hamilton. Growing up in Virginia was special to Chris. He loved telling stories to his family and friends about the adventures he got into as a child. As a child he loved sports especially soccer. As a teen Chris loved surfing and hot rod cars. As time passed, Chris grew to love NACSAR and the NFL. When time allowed, Chris and his brother Pat would sneak off to the shed, better known as "Grumpy's Smoke Shack" to relax and reminisce about the times they had. As much as he loved all those things, nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family. As a "Step" Father his love for Amanda and Amber was never forced, it was his choice. “Grumpy” will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is: wife of 30 years, Susan Hamilton; two daughters, Amanda Tanner and husband Matt, Amber Harrod and husband Aaron; two brothers, Greg Hamilton and wife Patty Hamilton, Pat Tramel and wife Kristie Tramel; three granddaughters: Olivia Harrod, Madelyn Harrod and Sophia Tanner; two grandsons, Micah Tanner, Max Tanner, and a beloved dog, “Gretchen”.
