On May 27, 2021 Jeffrey Wayne Ecobichon lost his battle with Alzheimer’s and was greeted by his late parents, Helen & Ray Ecobichon, as well as his younger brother, Kenneth. Born on April 15, 1954 in Virginia, Jeff was raised in Ohio and graduated from Avon High School in 1972.

His interest in auto mechanics fueled his desire to work within that field, taking any mechanics course he could to further his knowledge. From his first job at the local 76 station until his retirement after 30 years with the City of Norfolk. Jeff’s passion for everything automotive made him who he was. From race fandom and racing to teaching and building, a person more dedicated to their craft would be difficult to find.

Surviving family members include wife, Ginger Ecobichon and siblings Andrea Heimann, Mark Ecobichon and Kevin Ecobichon, as well as countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Jeff’s name would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 8th at 5:00 pm. The service will be held at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road in Virginia Beach, VA 23464

Jeff and I shared many memories together. From going to the Richard Petty Fan club conventions to attending Tides games. He was the first person to ever take me to Dumar's. He worried with me when my son Ian was in Iraq and he rejoiced with me when Ian came home. He was Pops to my 2 older grandchildren, Trey and Stella. He helped all of my kids in more ways than I can state. I remember how happy he was when Adam and Paul had their girls; how giddy he got when he was able to Richard and Kyle Petty's signatures tattooed on his arm; and how excited he was when he met and married Ginger. He may have been my ex, but he was always my friend. Jay and I will miss him forever. Sending his family our deepest condolences.

Jeff was my stepfather for those of you who don't know me. I have so many memories but will share three most of you probably don't know.
Jeff competed in a "flumathon." As in water flume. The winner was the one who could flume to longest. Jeff made it 2 1/2 days. I think the winner went 6 days. (they had some breaks). Can you imagine being on a water slide for 2 days?
In the early 80s semi pro football came to Virginia Beach, the Neptunes. Jeff dressed as King Neptune and was adopted as the team mascot. He was a great Neptune.
Before craft breweries became popular Jeff partnered with a couple others in Chesbay beer. It was a concept before it's time. I think they are still around even though ownership has changed. Jeff was one of the original craft brewers.
I could probably talk forever about the amazing things Jeff did. He was truly unique. I love you, Jeff.
